Malaysia has set a deadline for online recruitment of migrant workers. The country's human resources minister, M Saravanan, has said he will apply to the plantation sector on January 28. except for this, from February 15, employers are able to apply for the recruitment of foreign workers in other sectors including the tree planting sector through the web site.
Earlier, on January 10, Saravanan told employers that those that want to rent foreign workers can apply as required. The Minister of Human Resources has prohibited employers from making any transaction through intermediaries or third parties to expedite the applying process and to avoid fraud by fraudsters.
The government has given special approval in September last year to herald 32,000 foreign workers to scale back the labor shortage within the country's plantation sector, in keeping with a notice signed by the human resources minister on Saturday. the cupboard meeting on December 10 last year decided to recruit foreign workers all told sectors except the tree planting sector. The sectors approved at the meeting are agriculture, manufacturing, services, mining and quarrying, construction and domestic workers.

It is to be noted that on December 19 last year, the 2 countries formally signed an agreement to recruit workers from Bangladesh. The agreement was signed in national capital by Imran H Ahmed, Minister for Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment on behalf of Bangladesh and M Saravanan, Minister for Human Resources on behalf of Malaysia.
